Terms of service

Last updated 7 August 2026

By using Gearboxd you agree to these terms. If you do not, please do not use the service.

Your account

  • You must be 16 or over to hold an account.
  • Keep your login details to yourself; you are responsible for what happens on your account.
  • One person, one account. Do not impersonate anyone.
  • You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

Your content

You keep ownership of everything you post. You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display and distribute it for the purpose of running Gearboxd. That licence ends when you delete the content, except for copies already shared by others or held in backups.

Only post photos you took or have permission to use, and nothing that breaks the acceptable use policy.

Vehicle data

The catalogue is compiled from public sources and community contributions. Specifications, production years and performance figures are a reference and may be wrong. Do not rely on them for buying, insuring, modifying or servicing a vehicle.

Moderation

We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these terms, and we use automated tools alongside human review to do it. Where we remove something we will tell you why if we can; you can appeal by emailing hello@gearboxd.co.uk.

Premium subscriptions

Gearboxd Premium costs £2.99 per month including VAT, billed by Stripe in GBP, and renews automatically each month until you cancel. What it includes is listed on the Premium page: it is cosmetic customisation plus removal of adverts, and it never gates anything that would make the community worse for people who don't pay.

  • Cancelling. Cancel any time from Settings — it takes two clicks and needs no email. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for; we do not cut it off the moment you cancel.
  • Right to cancel (14 days). As a consumer you normally have 14 days to change your mind. By subscribing you ask us to start the service immediately and acknowledge you lose that right once it has been fully performed. If you cancel within 14 days having barely used it, contact us and we will deal with you fairly.
  • Price changes. We will give at least 30 days' notice by email before any price change, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
  • Failed payments. Stripe retries for a few days. Your Premium features stay on during that window rather than vanishing the hour your bank declines a renewal.
  • If we withdraw a feature. Premium is cosmetic and will change over time. If we remove something significant you paid for, you can cancel and we will refund the unused part of the month.

We never see or store your card number — Stripe handles payment details directly.

Adverts

Some of what you see is paid placement and is always labelled "Advert". Adverts are served by Google AdSense and by us directly. We do not endorse advertisers and are not party to any dealing you have with them. Premium removes adverts entirely.

Availability and liability

Gearboxd is provided as-is. We do not guarantee it will always be available or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under UK law. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data or profits.

Changes

We will post material changes to these terms on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use Gearboxd after that means you accept them.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
